According to information received, the police have registered a case against the cleric and seven of his associates for assaulting and molesting three female teachers at a madrasa in the area and have begun an investigation.
A teacher resident of the Piran Kaliyar police station area informed the police that she has been teaching at the madrasa for several years. On October 12th, while she was studying at the madrasa, a cleric called her into his room and forcibly molested her. When she resisted, the cleric beat her and injured her.
When two female colleagues of the teacher came to rescue her, the cleric called his seven companions Rihaan, Mohammad Shad, Afan, Suhail Aris and Sameer and beat up all three of them and tried to tear the clothes of the victims. The accused threatened to kill the victims.
The victim told that the cleric had been eyeing her for a long time, about which she had complained to the madrasa manager. But no action was taken at that time. Station House Officer Ravindra Kumar said that on the basis of the complaint, a case has been registered against the cleric and his seven companions on Monday evening under relevant sections including molestation, assault, obscene acts and threat to kill and an investigation has been started.
